1 是什么引起了你们的冲突和争斗呢？不就是在你们里面交战的邪恶欲望吗？

2 你们贪求自己没有的东西，就设计杀人来夺取；你们嫉妒别人拥有的东西，自己得不到，就打斗、争战，要从别人那里抢过来。你们得不到想要的，是因为你们没有向上帝祈求；

3 你们祈求也得不到，是因为你们的动机不良，只为满足自己要享乐的欲望。

4 你们这些淫乱的人啊！难道你们不知道，与世界为友就是与上帝为敌吗？我再说一遍，如果你们想跟世界做朋友，那你们就成了上帝的敌人。

5 圣经上说，上帝安置在我们里面的灵是充满嫉妒的。你们认为这话是什么意思呢？

6 但他赐给我们更大的恩典，让我们可以对抗这些邪恶的欲望。正如圣经所说： 「上帝抵挡骄傲的人，却喜欢谦卑的人。」

7 因此，你们要在上帝面前谦卑。抵挡魔鬼，魔鬼就必逃离你们。

8 亲近上帝，上帝就必亲近你们。罪人啊，要洗净你们的手；要清洁你们的心，因为你们既想忠于上帝，又想忠于世界。

9 为自己所做的哭泣吧；悲伤哀痛吧；以忧伤代替欢笑，以忧愁代替喜乐吧。

10 你们要在主面前谦卑，他就必使你们升高，得到尊荣。
